Crash Analysis & Reporting

Crash data are compiled and reported by ODOT on an annual basis, and include summaries by city and county.

Safety Priority Index System (SPIS) is a method developed by ODOT for identifying locations with high numbers of serious accidents based on the past 3 years of data. This map provides the most recent analysis for the Eugene-Springfield area (PDF).

Locations that have SPIS ratings of 90-100% (e.g. in the top 10% throughout the state) are examined annually by ODOT for analysis and possible corrective action.

The City of Eugene provides crash trends including injury, fatal, bicycle and pedestrian crashes along with the ranking of intersections as to the number of crashes each year.  See this report for 2003-2012 here

A nationwide census of factors behind traffic fatalities is reported by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at this site.
